Lanna Golf Club - Chaing Mai
This course was part of a large sports complex which included a horse racing track. Six of the first nine holes were in the infield of the track. The track itself constituted the world's longest fairway bunker--the OB sign was on the outside rail. The holes inside the track were fairly open with no large trees (which is to be expected--the horse race viewers wouldn't appreciate the alternative). The back nine was like playing another course. Lots of trees, shrubs, and water to contend with. This was probably the easiest course I played in Thailand, and I actually had two pars!! Green fees were $17.00.

This is the first hole--you can see the race track on the right. |
My b-in-law Tuansing limbering up on the first tee. My orange clad caddy on this course got to drive a cart cause my foot was killing me. |
|
Another par three over water (I think they all were). |
The race track clubhouse was filled with spectators just to watch us golf. :-) |
|
Now we're on the back and for all intents a new course. |
Can't have a par three without water AND a tree protecting it. My tee shot went in the bunker. |
|
But I blasted out to five feet and sunk it for one of my two pars that day! |
How do you say "reverse pivot" in Thai?? |
